What is ceremonial cacao?

Ceremonial cacao is pure cacao intended for drinking. It is minimally processed and still contains its natural cacao butter, making the taste richer and the texture creamier than regular cocoa powder.

At CacowGirls, you'll find cacao in various forms: ceremonial cacao blocks, cacao bars, and cacao discs.

How do you prepare ceremonial cacao?

The basic recipe is simple: heat water, plant-based milk, or A2A2 milk (often available locally at farms) to about 70°C (158°F). Add your cacao and let it melt slowly. Stir well or use a blender for an extra creamy foam layer.

How much ceremonial cacao do you use per cup?

The amount depends on your intention. For a daily cup, 20 to 25 grams is common. For a deeper ritual, you can use up to 42 grams. Our cacao bars are perfectly pre-dosed for one cup.

Does ceremonial cacao contain caffeine?

Cacao contains a small amount of caffeine, but the primary active compound is theobromine. This provides a gentle, long-lasting energy boost without the 'crash' often associated with coffee.

Is ceremonial cacao suitable for the evening?

This varies per person. Some find it makes them alert, while others feel relaxed. For evening use, we recommend a lower dose, possibly combined with Blue Lotus for extra relaxation.

What is Blue Lotus and how do you use it with cacao?

Blue Lotus is a flower traditionally used for relaxation and dreaminess. You can brew it as a tea or use it as an infusion base for your cacao. Discover it in our gift sets.

Can I drink cacao during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Yes, but in moderation due to the theobromine and caffeine content. Always listen to your body and consult your midwife or doctor if you have any doubts.
